SPECIFICATION
The build specification is incredible, heavily optioned-out to a stratospheric total value of approximately £285K. The exterior and interior is adorned with many optional extras including MSO gloss carbon fibre and the main bodywork is painted in vibrant MSO Mantis Green Special Paint.
Exterior carbon options from front to back are: Splitter, door mirror caps, door blades (with 650S model designation), side air intakes, air-brake, rear bumper, and diffuser. The gloss carbon fibre contrasts sharply with the marvellous green paintwork.
The interior is trimmed in a combination of Alcantara and semi-aniline leather. Leather was an optional extra over the Alcantara interior of a base model. Physical contact-points between driver and car are trimmed in carbon black Alcantara (steering wheel and seat inserts), keeping buttocks, posterior and hands firmly where they should be (no sliding about). The leather makes for a practical and serviceable surface (easier to care for). Seats and carbon door cards are tastefully detailed with cadmium yellow leather piping, complementing the optional yellow McLaren branded brake callipers. Points of note are that switch gear surrounds, steering wheel trim, door card inserts, B-pillars, rear firewall capping, McLaren branded door sills and engine covers are in gloss carbon fibre. The high gloss lacquer is so deep, you could almost swim in it.
Further upgrades from the options list are the alloy fluid filler caps (oil and coolant) and external badges, steering wheel boss and wheel centre caps in carbon finish. Exhaust trim surrounds and airbrake supports are in Stealth Finish. Aural drama is provided by an MSO Sports Exhaust, crafted from F1 grade Inconel alloy. If music is preferred over the exhaust note, there’s also the upgraded seven speaker Meridian DSP Surround Sound system. Nose Lift, Electric/Heated Memory Seats, Parking Sensors, Reversing Camera and factory retrofitted Soft-close doors complete the list of upgrades.
This MSO Mantis Green 650S Spider – paired with lashings of MSO gloss carbon fibre extras – is optioned-out to a hugely impressive specification. Nearly matching the very rare MSO 650S (only 50 built), there are few base cars optioned to this desirable specification. McLaren certainly pushed-the-boat-out with this particular 650S Spider.
