1st Owner – McLaren

Believed to be a McLaren ex-demo car, this rare gem of a 650S Spider was first registered and owned by McLaren in September 2014. The build specification is incredible, heavily optioned-out to a stratospheric total value of approximately £285K. The exterior and interior is adorned with many optional extras including MSO gloss carbon fibre and the main bodywork is painted in vibrant MSO Mantis Green Special Paint.

Exterior carbon options from front to back are: Splitter, door mirror caps, door blades (with 650S model designation), side air intakes, air-brake, rear bumper, and diffuser. The gloss carbon fibre contrasts sharply with the marvellous green paintwork.

The interior is trimmed in a combination of Alcantara and semi-aniline leather – leather was an optional extra over the Alcantara interior of a base model. Physical contact-points between driver and car are trimmed in carbon black Alcantara (steering wheel and seat inserts), keeping buttocks, posterior and hands firmly where they should be (no sliding about). The leather makes for practical and serviceable surfaces (easier to care for). Seats and door cards are tastefully detailed with cadmium yellow leather piping, complementing the optional yellow McLaren branded brake callipers. Points of note are that switch gear surrounds, steering wheel trim, door card inserts, B-pillars, rear firewall capping, McLaren branded door sills and engine covers are in gloss carbon fibre. The high gloss lacquer is so deep, you could almost swim in it.

Further upgrades from the options list are the alloy fluid filler caps (oil and coolant) and external badges, steering wheel boss and wheel centre caps in carbon finish. Exhaust trim surrounds and airbrake supports are in Stealth Finish. Aural drama is provided by an MSO Sports Exhaust, crafted from F1 grade Inconel alloy. If music is preferred over the exhaust note, there’s also the upgraded seven speaker Meridian DSP Surround Sound system. Nose Lift, Electric/Heated Memory Seats, Parking Sensors, Reversing Camera and factory retrofitted Soft-close doors complete the list of upgrades.

This MSO Mantis Green 650S Spider – paired with lashings of MSO gloss carbon fibre extras – is optioned-out to a hugely impressive specification. Nearly matching the very rare MSO 650S (only 50 built), there are few base cars optioned to this desirable specification. McLaren certainly pushed-the-boat-out with this particular 650S Spider.

During McLaren ownership, the five spoke diamond cut wheels were replaced or painted silver, possibly in preparation for sale.

2nd Owner – Unknown

The car entered the main dealer network through McLaren Glasgow where it was sold to its first ‘human’ keeper (name unknown), who kept it until 2016. Not much is known about the period 2015 – 2016, except that it possibly resided in the South West of England or Wales? – due to it being serviced by McLaren Bristol.

3rd Owner – Andrew W

The car was purchased by Andrew W in March 2016, a McLaren enthusiast – previously had MP4-12C. The car was purchased via the trusted McLaren specialist Alastair Bols. The car resided in the Southampton area.

Shortly after purchase, the five spoke wheels were upgraded, replaced with OE ten spoke wheels in gloss black. A Smart-top remote controller was also fitted. The same ten spoke wheels and remote controller remain fitted to the car in 2026. As of 2026, Andrew still retains the original five spoke wheels.

4th Owner – Mike B

01/05/2022 – 17/03/2026.

Reg: TR09 BEA

Purchased by Mike B in 2022 – via Hills Prestige. The car resided in the Hull area. As evidenced by invoices and the service booklet, Mike continued with Thorney Motorsport for servicing and maintenance during 2023 and 2024, changing to the more local and northern based Jack Webb Motorsport (JWM) in 2025.

During his ownership, Mike had the ten spoke wheels refinished in Anthracite.

5th Owner – Mick L

17/03/2026 –

Advertised privately through a McLaren enthusiast social media group, the car was subsequently purchased by McLaren enthusiast, Mick L – Mick has previously owned two 720S. The car was known to Mick through a McLaren Owners Club event he had previously attended. Already knowing of the impressive specification and service history, Mick grasped the opportunity and quickly acquired the car.

The car now resides in the North East Lincolnshire area, still remaining with JWM as the trusted McLaren independent specialist for servicing and maintenance.

Mick had the wheels refinished in OE silver colour, as well as the replacement and refurbishment of various items. Mick’s plan is to visually return the car to as near as possible to build specification, but retaining the upgraded OE wheels and remote controller.
